Run/Walk Instructions and Information
- All runners and walkers will wear their race numbers in the front, clearly visible to the timers and finish line personnel.
- Pin the number at the small holes on the race bib. Do not pin the tear off strip on the bottom. Do not tear the strip off until you enter the finish line chute. Hand the strip to the finish line volunteer as you exit the chute.
- We advise against the use of headphones at this event. Should you choose to use them, you do so at your own risk. Keep the volume at a reasonable level so that you can hear vehicles and other runners near you on the course. Important Courtesy: Please remove headphones as you enter the finish line chute so you can hear finish line instructions.
- The 5K and 10K will begin 5 minutes apart from the same location. Walkers and those running with strollers need to start from the rear of the starting group.
Course Cautions:
1. The course is open to vehicular traffic on the beach. You may use headphones, but be aware of your surroundings. There will be plenty of room for both runners and vehicles, but there won’t be much traffic at the time of the race.
2. As with running on any beach, tides will cause ripples or irregularities on the running surface. Sand is hard packed and very safe.
3. Jogging Strollers are allowed, but please be cautioned for the safety of your child: the beach surface is constantly changing with the tides and there will be dips and ruts. Be constantly aware and be prepared to slow considerably to avoid tipping the stroller or injuring your child.
Weather:
Prevailing sea breeze usually gives a headwind going out and a tailwind on return to the finish.
